Physical elements to put in a playground design

Children love nothing more than exploring and climbing in the playground. A well-designed playground can help children to learn and interact within a safe environment. Whether you are designing a playground for a primary school or a local park, it’s worth considering the following options:

  • Swings: With safety versions available for toddlers, swings are great way for children to get “up, up and away!” Promoting bonding between adult and child or between friends, swings are both fun and exhilarating for children of all ages.
  • Climbing frames: An innovative climbing frame will test the child’s motor skills and encourage them to test boundaries and conquer new ground. A good climbing frame will offer different levels for children of varying ages and bravery levels.
  • Monkey bars: A test of strength for some and a proof of gravity for others, monkey bars always present a fun challenge for young adventurers.
  • Roundabouts: Providing a workout and a test of balance, a roundabout will keep children entertained for longer than you might imagine.
  • Basketball hoops: Basketball hoops can be enjoyed by groups of children or by single devotees to the sport. Installing basketball hoops will up the fun factor and allow users to develop valuable new skills.

Once you have decided which playground equipment to include, the next step is to choose the right flooring materials. Children will inevitably trip and fall while they play, which is why it is important to ensure that they are as protected as possible. Rubber playground tiles are slip-resistant, so they are less likely to fall. If they do trip, these tiles help to cushion the fall and prevent nasty grazes. Providing excellent drainage properties, rubber playground tiles provide a safe and effective floor covering for school and park playgrounds.
